PVTA Models for Hierarchically Focused Guardbanding
We provide a new high-level model for Timing Error Rate (TER) of various functional units, including
· 32-bit integer operations
· single precision floating-point operations (compatible with the IEEE 754 floating-point standard)
The model is derived using accurate industrial-strength tools and calibration flows, and yields the TER of the functional units as a function of
· clock frequency
· the amount of PVT variations and Aging (PVTA)
The model that can be used both online and offline. Online, it provides a model-based rule to derive guardband from the PVTA sensor readings. Offline, it enables design time analysis to identify vulnerable functional units at a given amount of PVTA variations. The model is publicly available for download here.
